On November 6, the three aircraft manufacturers (Dassault, EADS and Saab) delivered on time to armasuisse their current offer in the context of the proposed partial replacement of the Tiger fighters (TTE).
The updated offers are necessary because of the deadline extension compared to the original timetable. Besides inflation, any technical developments must also be taken into account in the evaluation process, so manufacturers have been asked to update their offerings.
On October 21, 2009, the Federal Council decided to maintain the timing of the partial replacement of the Tiger (TTE). The report on security policy will likely be ready in spring 2010.
The completion of the proposed acquisition should be sought with the weapons program in 2011.
The evaluation report, which will serve as the basis for the choice of the winning aircraft, should be available as planned in December 2009.
The noise measurements made during the 2008 flight tests of the competing aircraft have been analyzed. The DDPS will inform on the results during a forthcoming press conference in Bern.
Regional information sessions in the towns whose airports support fast jet operations are also planned. Invitations to these sessions, which will be held in early December, will be sent.
