Additional Warship Classes Expected to Be Outfitted with Surface Tactical Team Trainer

NEWTOWN, Conn. --- The United States Navy's Surface Tactical Team Trainer was initially scheduled to be installed fleetwide in 2007; however, because of the technological issues that needed to be overcome, it did not start to see use in AEGIS-equipped ships until 2009.

Other combat vessels and amphibious assault ship classes are expected to be outfitted with the system over the next several years as the technology improves.

After completing development, testing, and certification of Build 3.51 in FY12 at a budget request of $23.972 million, research and development funding settles down to an average $8 million-$13 million per year for technological advancements through program completion.
