In the framework of KADEX-2014 International Exhibition (Astana) the specialists of Odessa Aircraft Plant, being a participant of Ukroboronprom State Concern, carried out the presentation of program on upgrading of L-39 training aircraft to the level of L-39M.

Presented program envisages the upgrading of aircraft propulsion and improving its control system. Aircraft acceleration characteristics are also enhanced, while takeoff distance is cut down by 10%.

In convictions of the Odessa Aircraft Plant’s representatives the important aspect of L-39 upgrading is equipping of it with board training system. It allows creating flight ‘simulator’ of MiG-29 and Su-27 aircraft. Thus, under the real flight conditions the imitation of MiG-29 and Su-27 aircrafts’ navigation target acquisition systems is ensured. Herewith, the cost of reequipping of several L-39 aircrafts to the level of L-39M is less than the cost of one ground 5th [generation] complex trainer.

Modernization of L-39 will allow enhancing the quality of flight education of educational institutions’ trainees and using it for combat training purposes of Units of Air Forces of Armed Forces of Ukraine as well.

The supply of L-39M to the combat forces will save fighter’s resource while pilot’s training and economize the fuel and combat aircrafts maintenance charges.
