The Delegation Generale pour l’Armement (DGA) on August 31 awarded Eurocopter a contract for the acquisition and in-service support of seven EC 145 helicopters that will be operated by the Gendarmerie Nationale (a police force belonging to the Ministry of Defence – Editor)
The contract is worth 65 million euros.
The contract between DGA and Eurocopter concludes a limited request for proposals restricted to Europe. The seven EC 145s thus ordered will reinforce the operational capabilities of the Gendarmerie, which already operates eight similar helicopters.
They will be notably operated for mountain rescue missions and will eventually replace the Alouette IIIs.
Deliveries will take place in 2007 and 2008.
