Frigate F-310 Successfully Completes First Missile Firing and Engagement
(Source: Navantia; issued Sept. 19, 2006)
This frigate, delivered by Navantia in April, is the first of the seriess of five that the company is building for Norway.

The frigate 'Fridtjof Nansen' has carried out on 12th. September the first trials of the AEGIS system, developed by Lockheed Martin and integrated by Navantia. During the trials, in the North Atlantic, the frigate F-310 has detected, tracked and engaged the unmanned target with an 'Evolved Sea Sparrow' missile as part of the first-of-class ship's sea acceptance testing.

These trials were supported by representatives and engineers from the U.S. Navy, as well as Lockheed Martin and Kongsberg Defense.

These trials highlight, once again, the high quality of the frigates, as well as the wide technological capacity and experience of Navantia in the design, construction and integration of this type of ships.
