The Pentagon's report on the April 8 crash of an MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor, which killed 19 crew and passengers, was released July 27.

It concludes that the crash was caused by a combination of factors," including "deviations from the scheduled flight plan, an unexpected tailwind and the pilot's extremely rapid rate of descent into the landing zone created the conditions that led to the accident. "

A synopsis of the report -- which, with attachments, comprises more than 8,000 pages -- was released to the media, and commented during a news briefing by Lieutenant General McCorkle, the deputy commandant for Marine Corps Aviation.
