Navantia has signed on January 22 a partnership with SIMA, the naval shipyard and industrial services organization of the Navy of Peru. The agreement sets out a framework for developing potential cooperation between Navantia and SIMA to address the renewal and modernization of the fleet of the Peruvian Navy by combining the experience and capabilities of both companies.
Navantia's current position as a military shipyard with high technical edge and a strong expertise in sophisticated vessels, systems and life cycle management can allow the cooperation to support domestic capabilities in a clear phase of expansion and growth, providing recognized gains and strong support to the Peruvian Navy.
Navantia can provide methodological references and meaningful experiences in these fields, which may allow the challenge of ensuring national training, reducing terms and investments as well as risks.
The agreement was signed by the director of SIMA, Admiral Eduardo Novoa, and the Commercial Director of Navantia, Gonzalo Mateo-Guerrero, as well as the Commercial Director of Navantia Military Ships, Sofia Honrubia. The ceremony was also attended by President of Navantia, José Manuel Revuelta.
The proposed areas of cooperation are very diverse and the agreement is open to the incorporation of new ones that are of mutual interest to the parties.
Thus, cooperation can be extended to:
-- The actual construction and design activities and marine engineering
-- Modernization of surface ships
-- The Support Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of ships and systems, both civilian and military, in areas such as:
-- Management and Engineering Support ACV.
-- Implementation of Maintenance.
-- Supply chain management.
-- Training and Simulation.
Collaboration in the design, development and systems integration, complementary to existing programs in the country and in which Navantia has a leading position in areas such as:
-- Platform Control Systems, Navigation and Integrated Communications
-- Addresses shot and arms control
-- Support the integration of combat systems and applications Command and Control
Currently, Navantia is already working with the Navy of Peru by providing an advanced "Integrated Control System Platform, Navigation and Communications" for the ship "Union", floated in December 2014, and which is located at the forefront of naval technology.
The agreement also facilitates consideration of SIMA as a strategic partner for other business opportunities with Navantia in third countries.
