ZHUHAI --- The advanced Russian-made Ilyushin Il-76MD-90A military transport plane will start undergoing state trials soon, General Designer of Russia’s Ilyushin Aviation Complex Nikolai Talikov told TASS at the Airshow China 2016 international exhibition.

The Ilyushin Aviation Complex is a subsidiary of Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation.

"The Il-76MD-90A plane will start undergoing the second stage of its trials, i.e. the state tests, in November. The trials will involve another aircraft No. 0102," Talikov said.

This is an ordinary procedure, Talikov said. "Firstly, the plane is certified and produced. Then, when is becomes evident that the plane has proved its effectiveness, a decision is made to start its state trials," the general designer said.

During this period that will last about six months, the Aviastar-SP Enterprise in Ulyanovsk in the Volga area will work on the Il-78M-90A aerial refueling aircraft that will start undergoing flight tests in early 2017.

According to Talikov, this is one of the reasons why the term of the contract for the delivery of 39 Il-76MD-90A planes to the Defense Ministry has been extended to 2024.

As of today, the customer has received four Il-76MD-90A planes.
