In 2017, pilots of the Northern Fleet practice operating Ka-27M multipurpose helicopters.

Air defence and Air Force army of the Northern Fleet received 6 Ka-27M modernized helicopters. The pilots will conduct flights in the naval aviation training centre in Yeysk and coastal airfields of the Northern Fleet.

Ka-27 is a ship based helicopter. Northern fleet formations and units are operating anti-submarine and search-and-rescue modifications of this helicopter.
