Strike Group of the Caspian Flotilla Successfully Performed Missile Launches During the “Caucasus-2016” Strategic Exercise

Strike group of the Caspian flotilla consisting of the small-sized missile ships Grad Sviyazhsk and Uglich has successfully performed missile launches during the strategic command-and-staff exercise “Caucasus-2016”.

As a result, the important coastal facilities and ship groupings of simulated enemy were destroyed by precision hits of the Kalibr cruise missiles.

During the first stage of firing, the Grad Sviyazhsk warship launched a Kalibr missile against a command centre of simulated enemy. Having flown about 100 nautical miles it destroyed the target.

The second stage included joint actions of ship groupings during a combat with surface ships of simulated enemy. The small-sized missile ship Uglich made a precision strike with a Kalibr missile against a sea target.

The missile hit a floating shield which imitated the vessel of the enemy at the distance of over 70 nautical miles.

For the period of the exercise, the sea range was closed for civil navigation.
