Indian Air Force Chooses Sextant For Jaguar Upgrade
The Indian air force recently chose Sextant of France to carry out a complete upgrade of the Jaguar autopilot, following its selection of Sextant in 1998 as supplier of the 6x6 inch smart multifunction display (SMFD) and interface units for their Jaguar upgrade program.
Sextant will supply a state-of-the-art modular, digital autopilot for India's Jaguars, derived from autopilots already developed for the Mirage 2000-9 and the Nimrod 2000. Sextant offers unmatched expertise in flight controls and autopilots for both civil and military aircraft, including extensive upgrade work on France's Jaguars some ten years ago.
Autopilot integration will be carried out in conjunction with both the Indian air force and HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.), which has manufactured Jaguars in India for the past 20 years.
This new autopilot will increase the aircraft's ground attack capabilities, as well as enhance flight safety.
Sextant, the European leader and world-renowned partner in avionics and cabin electronics, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Thomson-CSF, a world leader in professional electronics for civil and defense markets.
