Aero Vodochody Expands UK Subsidiary

Rotortech Aero Composites Limited (Rotortech), part of Aero Vodochody, announced today a threefold expansion of its manufacturing capacity at its site based near Cambridge, UK.

This enlargement is expected to bring Rotortech the ability to develop leading-edge solutions, meeting specific customer requirements across a broader range of programs, both on a larger scale and with shorter lead times.

“This investment means that Rotortech will be able to substantially enhance its composite facility and will be able to offer customers more of the quality products for which Rotortech has become renowned,” Brian Dempster, Rotortech, Managing Director.

“The expansion shall enhance our capabilities and competitiveness in providing advanced solutions in aerostructures,” Ladislav Simek, Aero President.
Rotortechs’ manufacturing facility will expand through the enlargement of the existing cleanrooms and production facilities for laminating, trimming, and testing components in conjunction with upgrading the current autoclave (10m x 3m) to further increase capacity.

The expansion is Rotortech Aeros’ first large capacity increase in the two years since being acquired by the Central European Investment group Penta Investments (the owner of Aero). This move is critical in order to meet the growing demand for lightweight composite design, development, and production solutions in not only the current, but also the future aerospace and defence markets.
