Rolls-Royce And Aviall To Provide Global One-Stop Source For On-Demand Aviation Maintenance Support

Rolls-Royce plc and Aviall, Inc. today announced the signing of a definitive agreement between the two organizations for worldwide civil aftermarket parts support of Rolls-Royce Model 250 turboshaft and turboprop engines. Effective January 1, 2000, all marketing, sales, order administration, warehousing, and product and publications distribution will be conducted exclusively through Aviall from their more than 40 customer service centers located around the world.

"This is a new approach to aftermarket support", said Stuart I. Mullan, President - Helicopters, Rolls-Royce. "With only one telephone call to 1 (800) AVIALL-1 (800/284-2551) or an internet connection at www.aviall.com, Model 250 operators and customers can obtain virtually everything necessary to maintain their aircraft. Products ordered one day will be delivered the very next day, or, in some instances, even the same day".

"Our goal is to provide an on-demand global distribution network capable of meeting and exceeding the expectations of Model 250 customers by providing better product access for them. As a recognized industry leader, Aviall brings incredible capability and expertise which will allow us to better support the end user. In addition to being a one stop source, customers will benefit through faster delivery and elimination of manufacturing lead times. This will enable operators to lower the number of products and quantity of each item in their inventory, leading to reductions in carrying, administrative and labor costs. The result will be a significant increase in value for our customers."

Business relationships between Model 250 operators and their airframe manufacturers, and repair and overhaul activity performed for operators by independent authorized Rolls-Royce maintenance centers, are unaffected by this change in civil aftermarket product distribution.

Rolls-Royce plc is a global company meeting present and future requirements of civil aerospace, defense, marine and energy markets, with facilities in 14 countries. Its core gas turbine technology has created one of the broadest product ranges of aero engines in the world, with 55,000 engines in service with 300 airlines, 2,400 corporate and utility operators and more than 100 armed forces, powering both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. In addition, more than 30 navies use Rolls-Royce propulsion. Energy markets include the oil and gas industry and power generation.

Rolls-Royce, the pioneer of gas turbine technology for aerospace, power generation and marine propulsion, is today involved in the major future programs in these fields, including the Trent aero and industrial engines, the Eurofighter Typhoon and Joint Strike Fighter combat engines and the WR21 marine engine.

Aviall, Inc. is the largest independent distributor of new aviation parts. The company distributes and markets products of more than 180 manufacturers and distributes approximately 90,000 line items from customer service centers in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. Aviall also services aviation batteries, hoses, wheels and brakes. Inventory Locator Service, Inc., headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, a subsidiary of Aviall, is the electronic marketplace for aviation and commercial marine industries that links buyers and sellers of parts and services.
