Alvis plc announces that it intends to appoint Mr Trevor Harrison, currently Group Director of Marketing, as Managing Director of the combined Alvis Vehicles/Vickers Defence business in the UK following completion of the acquisition of Vickers Defence.
Subject to regulatory approval, this is expected to take place before the end of September. In preparation for this, and to allow time for the integration and management planning of the enlarged business, with effect from Monday 9 September Trevor Harrison will replace Mr Chris Rowe as Managing Director of Alvis Vehicles. Chris Rowe will be moving to another position in the Alvis Group.
Trevor Harrison, aged 50, has deep experience of the UK military Land Systems business, having worked at Royal Ordnance and Vickers as well as Alvis. He has in-depth knowledge of both the Alvis Vehicles business at Telford and the Vickers Defence business in Newcastle. The Alvis Board is confident that under Trevor Harrison's leadership the new, combined business will be able to move forward and capitalise fully on the opportunities in front of it.
In order to benefit from the heritage and reputation of both Alvis and Vickers, it has been decided to call the combined company Alvis Vickers Ltd.
