Chae Young-bok, Korean science-technology minister, met with Mathias Reichhold, Austrian transport-innovation-technology minister, in the Austrian capital of Vienna on September 16 to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation between Korea and Austria in the field of aerospace technologies, the ministry of science and technology announced Monday (Sept. 16).
After their discussion, the two ministers signed a memorandum of understanding on "Cooperation in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space for Peaceful Purposes."
Under the MOU, Korea and Austria will promote cooperation in the areas of aerospace technologies and their commercial applications. The MOU designated the Korea Aerospace Research Institute and the Austrian Space Agency as the leading institutions in the efforts.
Austria is one of Europe's leaders in advanced aerospace technologies, and an active member of the European Space Agency.
