ARLINGTON, Va. --- CACI International Inc announced today that it has been awarded a $51.9 million contract by the General Services Administration to provide technical assistance and project management to the United States Army National Guard (ARNG), Training Division for its Distributed Learning and Training Technology program.
This contract will help ARNG meet its goal of providing Advanced Distributed Learning (DL) training and education products and services to the entire force, anytime and anywhere, by 2010. With its subcontractor, IIT Research Institute (IITRI) of Alexandria, Virginia, CACI will provide technical support of ARNG's distributed learning initiative for one base year and four option years.
The contract positions CACI to grow its distributed learning and computer-based training services, complementing similar services acquired when the company purchased the Government Solutions Division of Condor Technology Solutions, Inc. in August 2002. It also expands the scope and value of CACI's ARNG business and its support of the U.S. Department of Defense.
The ARNG Distributed Learning and Training Technology program currently reaches over 350,000 soldiers in 54 U.S. states and territories. It is designed to reduce training expenses, increase troop preparedness, and foster collaboration and technology sharing among defense and civilian agencies. The CACI/IITRI team will assist with defining DL training processes and procedures and assure quality control measures during implementation of the program. Additionally, CACI will provide technical assistance with user databases to track training needs and course delivery, ensuring milestones and mission requirements are met. CACI troubleshooting and customer assistance services will also make certain training is responsive to specific user needs.
Key to winning the contract was IITRI's reputation for providing high- quality DL training support, as well as CACI's ongoing experience with ARNG. In October 2001, CACI was awarded a contract to consolidate all software maintenance for ARNG personnel, financial, and logistics management systems. CACI also has experience providing network services to the Army's Total Army Distance Learning Program, an initiative delivering voice and video, interactive CD-ROM, and web-based technology training to Army units worldwide.
