TORONTO --- CAE today announced the sale of an Airbus A320 full flight simulator (FFS) to new customer China Eastern Airlines. The value of the simulator is approximately C$18 million, based on list price.
"Our goal is to be the preferred choice for simulation equipment and training solutions throughout Asia, one of the fastest growing civil aviation markets in the world," said Gary Scott, CAE's Group President, Civil Simulation and Training. "CAE is proud to welcome China Eastern as a new customer."
China Eastern's Airbus A320 simulator will feature the CAE Tropos visual system and meet the highest standards for full flight simulators. It will be installed at their Pudong training center by the end of 2003.
As one of China's three major airlines, China Eastern has more than 80 aircraft in its worldwide fleet and plans to increase its fleet to over 150 aircraft through its union with China Northwest Airlines and China Yunnan Airlines. In addition, China Eastern plans to introduce 20 additional Airbus A320 aircraft over the next five years.
