Lockheed Martin and RADA Sign an MOU for the Supply of Avionics Systems for F-16 Aircraft
;HERZELIYA PITUACH, Israel --- RADA Electronic Industries Ltd. today announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cooperation in the supply of data transfer systems and maintenance data recording systems for F-16 aircraft with Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems of Fort Worth, Texas. ;The MOU with Lockheed Martin provides for the direct supply of RADA's systems to Lockheed Martin, which will in turn offer the system to its F-16 customers, as an integral part of each sale or upgrade transaction. As a result RADA's sales of its systems to a wide variety of potential customers worldwide should increase, while its marketing efforts and costs will decrease. ;Major General (Res.) Herzle Bodinger, RADA's President and Chairman of the Board, stated that this MOU with Lockheed Martin is the first step in materializing the Company's new strategic policy -- to directly supply its systems to the aircraft manufacturer. "This is a significant change from the marketing technique the Company used so far, and we consider this MOU an important achievement which we believe could be highly instrumental in enhancing the Company's marketing structure. We are sure that the significant added value of this MOU would be reflected in an increase in sales, including to customers we were never before able to approach, concurrently with a dramatic reduction in costs.'' ;The MOU refers to the supply of two of RADA's systems for Lockheed Martin's F-16 fighter aircraft: ;-- The ADTE system - Advanced Data Transfer Equipment for data loading ;-- The FACE system - Fatigue Monitoring engine and avionics health monitoring system for recording maintenance information. The ADTE is an advanced generation of data loading and storage systems for fighter aircraft. The ADTE will enable operational capabilities to be fully exploited, as well as enhancing training and debriefing capabilities during maneuvers -- a significant contribution to flight safety. This technology will allow for the improvement of RADA's previous system (DTE), which was first placed into operational use by the Israeli Air Force in the early 1990's. ;The FACE system is designed for recording maintenance data. Data recorded by the system will serve (i) Lockheed Martin in the analysis and follow-up of aircraft fatigue, and (ii) air force maintenance teams in their current servicing of aircraft engines and avionics systems. As part of the multi-dimensional concept presented by RADA, the FACE retains the option to evolve into a full pilot post flight debriefing system for both training and operational missions. Over 150 FACE systems have already been purchased by the Dutch and Belgian air forces in the framework of a project designed to enhance the performance of F-16 planes in Europe. ;RADA Electronic Industries Ltd. is incorporated in Israel and has a subsidiary in the United States. The Company is engaged in the development, manufacturing and marketing of advanced electronic equipment for the aerospace and commercial aviation markets.
