BAE Wins US Army Munitions Contracts

ROCKVILLE, Maryland --- BAE Systems has been awarded a contract to supply explosives to the U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command (JMC), the Single Manager for Conventional Ammunition (SIMCA). The contract has a ceiling value of $141 million.

Under this five-year, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract, BAE Systems Ordnance Systems, operating contractor of the Holston Army Ammunition Plant, will manufacture high explosives for integration into a variety of military weapon systems. Work will be performed by BAE Systems Ordnance Systems employees in Kingsport, Tenn., and will be completed by Sept. 2007.

"With this award, and the projected levels of production, we will continue to demonstrate the rapid response capability that was a cornerstone of our successful bid for the 25-year facility use contract at Holston Army Ammunition Plant," said Bruce Hamilton, president, BAE Systems Technology Solutions Sector.

"Holston has a strategic role to play in the Army's industrial base. No single plant in the western world could produce these projected quantities in the timeframe, other than Holston and we are proud to be making our contribution to the ongoing defence of this nation."
