Boeing Readies To Launch AsiaSat 4

ST. LOUIS --- Boeing officials are ready for the launch of AsiaSat 4, a Boeing 601HP satellite, for Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company Limited of Hong Kong. Scheduled for April 10 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla., it will be the first launch of the year for Boeing Satellite Systems, a division of Boeing Launch & Satellite Systems.

The 72-minute launch window onboard an Atlas IIIB rocket opens at 8:09 p.m. EDT (5:09 p.m., PDT and 12:09 a.m., GMT. In Hong Kong, launch time is 8:09 a.m., April 11).

Boeing is very proud to continue our long tradition with AsiaSat by providing the company its fourth Boeing built satellite, AsiaSat 4, " said Dave Ryan, president of Boeing Satellite Systems International, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company. "AsiaSat 4 will provide the highest reliability with the highest quality of service necessary to support the Asia Pacific region."

AsiaSat 4 is a Boeing 601HP, for high-power, spacecraft with more than 9,500 watts of power. Designed to provide broadcast, telecommunications and broadband multimedia services to the Asia Pacific region, and direct-to-home broadcast services to Hong Kong, AsiaSat 4 is designed to provide a minimum of 15 years of service. AsiaSat 4 will undergo in-orbit testing prior to handover to AsiaSat after launch.
