United Arab Emirates : Inauguration of Heavy Maintenance Workshops for the Leclerc MBTs
;Abu Dhabi --- A new important stage has just been reached last 8th March 1999 in the accomplishment of the Leclerc contract in the United Arab Emirates. ;General Obeid Al Kaabi, deputy head of staff of the UAE Armed Forces, and Jacques Loppion, CEO of Giat Industries, have inaugurated the setting into service of the heavy maintenance workshops destined for the Leclerc main battle tanks, of which, to date, more than 240 have been delivered. ;Insistence was given to the exemplary spirit of cooperation that has always prevailed throughout the accomplishment of this contract, the leaders of the UAE Armed Forces and of Giat Industries recalled the perfect adaptation of the Leclerc to the requirements of the customer, stemming from a jointly led development process. ;Also underlined was the capability now given to the UAE to master, on the Leclerc main battle tank, high level integration tasks and the implementation of the latest technologies
