ADI Reorganizes Business Units (Sept.8)

The technology demands of the emerging network centric warfare environment, combined with a need to better align ADI’s capabilities with those of its key customer, the Australian Defence Force, has prompted a major reorganization of ADI’s operations.

ADI’s managing director, Mr. Lucio Di Bartolomeo, said that under the reorganization the company’s capabilities had been regrouped to ensure they were more directly linked to the ADF’s single service sectors – sea, land and air.

A key feature of the reorganization was the consolidation of ADI’s electronic systems capabilities into a single business group.

“With network centric warfare, the pressure on Australia’s defense prime contractors to access new technologies and then adapt and integrate them will increase dramatically this decade,” Mr. Di Bartolomeo said.

“The companies that prosper will need to have significant financial and technology resources, be linked to global supply chains and be able to sustain long-term strategic partnership roles with Defence.”

Under ADI’s new organizational structure, business groups will be responsible for the following sectors:

--Naval
--Land – Ordnance
--Land – Engineering and Vehicles
--Electronics and Aerospace
--Services and Security

Mr. Di Bartolomeo said the reorganization will see a much clearer grouping of operational responsibilities and this would lead to an improved customer focus.
