Alenia Aerospazio is fully committed to increase its presence in Greece through collaborative programs with the Hellenic Aerospace Industries.
In fact, the Italian Company is bidding for the privatization of Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI) together with BAE Systems and EADS as a consortium. If the Consortium will be selected as the strategic partner of HAI, it will facilitate the integration of HAI into the European aerospace industry.
HAI will also have the opportunity to join Alenia Aerospazio, BAE Systems and EADS in the forthcoming aerospace projects.
Alenia Aerospazio and HAI are already collaborating through HCSA Hellenic Company for Space Applications - a joint venture company established in 1999 in order to carry out aeronautical and space activities for Greece in both military and civil sectors, such as telecommunications service in Greece, European R&D programs, etc.
Through LMATTS Lockheed Martin Alenia Tactical Transport System Alenia Aerospazio and Lockheed Martin proposed the military transport aircraft C-27J to meet the MTCA requirement and to satisfy the need of the Hellenic Air Force to improve its existing military transport fleet .
The LMATTS proposal for Greece includes two C130H and two G222 free of charge and the industrial return is more than 300% of the total contract value.
The participation of the Hellenic Companies in the sole source production of C-27J structural components is extended to the overall estimated market of the aircraft that foresees more than 500 aircraft over the next 20 years.
Alenia Aerospazio is also committed to provide coproduction and industrial participation of the Eurofighter aircraft, already selected by the Hellenic Air Force. The KYSEA decision to join the Eurofighter program will provide the HAF with the most advanced new generation fighter and represents a unique opportunity for the Hellenic Companies to grow their technological and industrial capabilities.
In addition, after the selection by the HAF, there is the need to train the pilots with a new generation Lead-In Fighter trainer. The new AMX-ATA (Advanced Trainer & Attack) aircraft has already been presented to the Hellenic Air Force and will represent another opportunity of collaboration between Italy and Greece.
