;A UK aerospace office will open in Toulouse, France on Monday 17th May 1999 on behalf of the UK Aerospace Industry's Equipment Sector. Backed by the SBAC, the office allows UK aerospace to work more closely with French companies. ;Toulouse is home to many leading hi-tech aerospace companies. David Marshall, Director General of the SBAC, says: "The UK prime contractor companies are already well established in Toulouse. As part of the SBAC's role to identify, develop and promote the interests and capabilities of the UK Aerospace Industry, we developed this project to help medium-sized UK equipment sector suppliers reach one of their target markets." ;John Janke, Chairman of the Bureau Management Committee and Development Director of GKN Westland Aerospace, one of the office's founding companies, says: "This is a crucial time for the European Aerospace Industry and we want to be out there closer to our customers so we are better able to understand their needs." ;The 12 UK equipment suppliers taking part in this project are jointly funding the office which is located in the Aeropole building in Blagnac, close to the headquarters of many of the leading aerospace organisations and within walking distance of the airport.
