PARIS---Alcatel Space has just announced the signature of a contract valued at 14 million Euros with Europe*Star Station, a subsidiary of Europe*Star Limited. The contract terms provide for in-flight satellite control and mission for the Europe*Star 1 bird, as well as for maintenance of Europe*Star equipment located in Europe.
Alcatel Space will be responsible for all of Europe*Star's operations and maintenance activities, including:
-satellite control operations, -mission control and traffic management operations, -maintenance of the ground segment in operational condition, -logistics support to Europe*Star for reserving transponder capacity.
A team of approximately 50 people will work at Europe*Star's facilities (satellite, mission, and business control centers; telemetry and telecommand station), which are located at Alcatel Space in Toulouse. Operations will be carried out around the clock.
The five-year renewable contract provides for operations and maintenance activities for future Europe*Star satellites.
1.Europe*Star Limited is owned by Alcatel Spacecom, as majority shareholder, and Loral Space & Communications, with interest held by the Dr. Schulte Hillen Group of Germany.
