AGES, Honeywell Agree On Engine Starters (Jan. 29)
Honeywell Engines & Systems and Volvo Aero's American company, The AGES Group, have reached a three-year agreement under which AGES is granted exclusive rights to market and distribute Honeywell's surplus air turbine starters for certain aircraft engines.
The alliance is expected to lead to an increase in sales for AGES and broaden the ability of both companies to reach beyond current aftermarket channels.
The agreement gives AGES exclusive rights to market and distribute surplus Honeywell air turbine starters for certain aircraft engine types during a three year period. The agreement covers engine starters for the CFM56-7 (the engine on Boeing 737's), the BR7XX (the engine on Boeing 717's) and the CF34 (General Electric's engine that is used by many regional jets, such as Bombardier and others).
In addition, AGES will utilize Honeywell facilities for the repair and overhaul of Honeywell starters.
"We are very happy that Honeywell chose AGES as distributor for their starters. This is a win-win-agreement, that will benefit both parties, as well as the customer," comments Claes Malmros, President of AGES.
The agreement is expected to result in sales of approx. $10 million (SEK 100 M) for The AGES Group. Claes Malmros believes it could be even more in the long run:
"We hope that this is only the first stage in a more extensive cooperation with Honeywell," he says.
"We are very excited about the opportunity to work with AGES in expanding our distribution channels, and developing creative and innovative alternatives for our customers", says Thomas LaMantia, Director of Honeywell's Fluid Power & Space Product Line.
In April 1999 AGES and Boeing reached an agreement under which AGES was granted the exclusive right to sell new surplus spare parts to the fleet of Boeing aircraft in the world market.
