Appeals Court Rules On Honeywell/Litton Case (Feb. 8)
MORRIS TOWNSHIP, N.J.---Honeywell said today that the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals ruling in the Litton Industries, Inc. case reaffirms Honeywell's long-standing position that Litton's patent claims were without legal foundation. The ruling confirms two previous lower court decisions that rejected Litton's claims, originally filed in 1993 for more than $1 billion in damages.
The Federal Circuit Court's decision sends certain claims under California law back to a lower court to resolve a limited number of factual issues. Honeywell said it is confident that it will prevail on those issues as well.
Honeywell is a US$25-billion diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide. Honeywell employs approximately 120,000 people in 95 countries and is traded on the New York Stock Exchange, as well as on the London, Chicago and Pacific stock exchanges. (ends)
