Following recent criticism by environmental groups and reports in the press in relation to the planned extension of its Hamburg facility, Airbus wishes to state the following facts:
**The site extension into the Mühlenberger Loch will affect 20 per cent of the water area. More importantly, this will be balanced by the creation of a new protected area of similar quality, almost twice the size of the affected part, which will be located downstream on the river Elbe.
**The impact on the environment has been fully taken into account by Airbus and considered to be justified by the relevant European authorities. Legal procedures have been strictly followed and the required approvals by local, regional and national authorities have been obtained.
**3. The preliminary injunction by the courts is the result of private action by four individuals related to the impact on their private property.
