Armor Wins $32M Order for FMTV (Jan. 28)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Armor Holdings, Inc., a leading manufacturer and distributor of security products and vehicle armor systems, announced today that it has received new orders totaling approximately $32.4 million to provide armor components to Stewart & Stevenson for the manufacture of the Low Signature Armored Cabs for the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV).

The company stated that it is providing critical armor components to be incorporated in the new vehicles being built by Stewart & Stevenson, which include ballistic glass, armor panels, and gun turret assemblies.

The new award is a result of orders for armored trucks by the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command for delivery in 2005. Work under this contract will continue to be performed by Armor Holdings' facilities in Fairfield, Ohio.

Robert Schiller, President and Chief Operating Officer of Armor Holdings, Inc., said, "This new work evidences our long-standing working relationship with Stewart & Stevenson. We are pleased to be part of a solution that provides the highest level of protection to our military by integrating armor components in the manufacturing process rather than add-on-armor in the field. We expect to see further growth in our integrated vehicle and personnel armoring programs. As a major supplier to the only manufacturer of the FMTV, we are gratified to contribute with Stewart & Stevenson in providing critical force protection equipment to our Armed Forces."
