Alenia Aerospazio Paris Air Show Previw (May 18)

The 44th edition of the Air Show at Le Bourget, which will be held at Paris on 17-24 June 2001, will feature Alenia Aerospazio as one of the leading company in the most important aerospace show in the world.

For the first time, the Italian company will show in flight all the most significant aircraft in its aeronautic production range, such as the Eurofighter/Typhoon, the C-27J and the AMX-T.

The new aircraft for maritime patrol, the ATR42 MP, will instead be shown in the static area.

The in-flight exhibitions of the Italian prototype Eurofighter/Typhoon, will once again be one of the main attractions of the air show.

The Italian DA7, one of the Italian prototypes of the air superiority aircraft developed in European collaboration by Alenia Aerospazio, BAE Systems (Great Britain) and Eads (Germany and Spain), will be shown in flight every day by the Alenia Aerospazio test pilots.

For the new military transport aircraft C-27J this will be the first in-flight exhibition at the Le Bourget air show. The C-27J, which is the result of a collaboration between Alenia Aerospazio and Lockheed Martin, is marketed by their joint company LMATTS Lockheed Martin Alenia Tactical Transport Systems. The aircraft, which combines the well-known reliability of the G222 with the modern avionics and the engines of the C-130J, is now into the production phase.

The C-27J has been ordered by the Italian Air Force (12 aircraft) and is under final evaluation for the Air Forces of Greece and Malaysia.

Also the light fighter aircraft AMX-T will perform in-flight exhibitions at Le Bourget. The AMX-T is a tactical support and reconnaissance aircraft, developed by Alenia Aerospazio, Aermacchi and the Brazilian company Embraer. A total of 192 AMX aircraft have been ordered by the Italian and Brazilian Air Forces in single/twin seater configurations.

The new version of the AMX-ATA (Advanced Trainer and Attack) plane is under development, destined for attack roles and advanced training, which will be equipped with the latest avionics systems.

Among the planes on display in the static area, Alenia Aerospazio will present its new maritime patrol aircraft ATR 42 MP in the version developed for the Italian Coast Guard. The ATR 42 MP is a new version of the aircraft specially developed for carrying out maritime patrol missions, sea rescue and surveillance. Two aircraft have already been purchased by the Italian Guardia di Finanza and the first one has been in service since last year. The Italian Coast Guard has also ordered two ATR 42 MP and the first in display at Le Bourget will be delivered before the end of May.

At the Finmeccanica Stand the Aeronautics Division of Alenia Aerospazio will place a Stereoscopic Table at visitors' disposal. It will allow to watch in 3-D the replay of the in-flight exhibitions performed by the Alenia aircraft. The visitor will be able to virtually move on-board of the aircraft and to fly in formation. The fly path presentation and the aircraft dynamics are directly produced by the experimental data, recorded on-board of the aircraft.
