AH to Provide Armor for Humvees (Mar. 14)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Armor Holdings, Inc., a leading manufacturer and distributor of security products and vehicle armor systems serving law enforcement, military, homeland security and commercial markets, announced today that it has received an order from AM General under a teaming agreement for delivery of a new armoring system for the M1151 and M1152 HMMWV to be incorporated in the vehicle manufacturing process.

The new order enables AM General and Armor Holdings to achieve U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command objectives to improve manufacturability, sustainability, serviceability, and survivability of newly produced HMMWVs. The M1151 and M1152 will be armored to specified levels in the production process and will be fitted to allow rapid addition of add-on- armor in the field using limited tooling and manpower. Work under this contract will be performed during 2005 by Armor Holdings' Aerospace and Defense Group at its Fairfield, Ohio facilities.

Robert Schiller, President of Armor Holdings, Inc., said, "The M1151 and M1152 HMMWV program is significant to AM General, Armor Holdings and the U.S. Army as it represents an evolution in the U.S. Army's approach to providing light armored vehicle force protection. We are pleased to continue our long standing relationship with AM General in support of this highly visible and important vehicle program that addresses improved survivability as part of the manufacturing process in order to enhance the level of safety afforded to our men and women in uniform. While the revenues for this award were contemplated by our previously issued 2005 guidance, we believe that our participation in this new program demonstrates our ability to remain an important long-term player in the armored vehicle market."

Armor Holdings, Inc. is a diversified manufacturer of branded products for the military, law enforcement, and personnel safety markets.
