Speaking at the press conference in the conference centre of Le Bourget, Noël Forgeard, Airbus President and CEO, highlighted the good results of Airbus so far this year and gave a very positive outlook for the future.
“In the first six months of the year, Airbus has won 196 orders and the year is not over yet,” said Noël Forgeard who invited journalists to stay “tuned in during the airshow for announcements concerning the A320, the A330, the A350 and the A380 Families.”
“Airbus has been ahead of the competition for the past five years and the year is not over yet,” he added.
Speaking about the new A350, Noël Forgeard stressed the huge interest the airlines are showing for the new aircraft. “I am confident that by the end of the year, we will reach the 200 commitments announced by John Leahy,” he said.
Noël Forgeard confirmed the increase in deliveries and production ramp-up with more than 360 deliveries planned for the year and a further 10 per cent increase planned for next year. “We will reach a production rate of 30 single-aisle aircraft and eight long range aircraft per month by the end of this year,” he declared.
He concluded the conference by stating that Airbus was in the lead and poised to remain so for a good number of years. “More than anything else, we at Airbus continue to work as a team, committed to the good cause which is the cause of the success of Airbus.”
