Army Awards Grumman Logicon $214 Million Training, Support Contract

;

HERNDON, Va.--- The U.S. Army has awarded a team led by Logicon Inc., a Northrop Grumman Corporation company, a contract to continue its support of the U.S. Army's Battle Command Training Program (BCTP) at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

The U.S. Army Training & Doctrine Command, Mission Contracting Activity at Fort Leavenworth awarded the contract to Logicon, which has supported BCTP since the program's inception in 1987. The contract calls for one base year and four one-year options, with a potential value totaling $214 million.

BCTP trains the Army's commanders and their staffs from the brigade through corps echelon and above in the operational aspects of war. Training includes the use of advanced, computer-based simulations integral to warfighter, brigade and joint-level exercises. Logicon supports the Army in all aspects of these exercises, including planning, scenario development, simulation use training, exercise execution and after-action review.

"Logicon has supported more major Army simulation-driven warfighter exercises than any other contractor,'' said Mike Kain, Logicon's BCTP program manager. "These exercises are more complex today than ever, and Logicon will be a major force in helping the Army transition to Force XXI (digitization) and next-generation wargames and simulations.''

"The BCTP program win is critically important to Logicon,'' said Harlan Johnston, president of Logicon's Advanced Technology unit in San Pedro, Calif., which will lead the team. "This contract forms the centerpiece of Logicon's training and simulation business area. It reaffirms our leadership in providing top-quality training to military forces in the continental United States (CONUS) and in Europe.''

The Logicon team includes Coleman Research Corporation, Fairfax, Va., and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), McLean, Va.

Logicon Inc., headquartered in Herndon, is a subsidiary of Northrop Grumman Corporation. It is a leader in advanced information technologies, systems and services. Areas of expertise include command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR); weapon systems; information systems; training and simulation; science and technology; base and range support; and system support services.
