Alenia, TAI Sign Patrol Plane Deal, Offsets (Dec 22)
The contract regarding Meltem III program and two MoUs, under the offset of the program, were signed between TAI and Alenia companies at a ceremony held at TAI’s facilities on 21 December 2005 at 16:00 hours.
The ceremony, which was held under the auspices of H.E. Vecdi Gönül, Minister of National Defense, was attended by many dignitaries among whom were the Ambassador of Italy H.E. Carlo Marsili and the Undersecretary for Defense Industries Mr. Murad Bayar.
Speeches were respectively made by TAI General Manager Mr. Muharrem Dörtkaşlı, Alenia CEO Mr. Giovanni Bertolone, Undersecretary for Defense Industries Mr. Murad Bayar and Minister of National Defense H.E. Vecdi Gönül.
At the ceremony, contracts for the ASW modification of Meltem III ATR72-500 aircraft and the production of horizontal stabilizer body seal, cargo barrier, and elevator assemblies of B787 aircraft at TAI’s facilities were inked by TAI General Manager Mr. Muharrem Dörtkaşlı, TAI Chairman of the Board Mr. Hasan Peker Günal, Alenia CEO Mr. Giovanni Bertolone and the Undersecretary for Defense Industries Mr. Murad Bayar.
With the contracts, TAI not only gets work packages worth about 235 million USD, but also becomes the sole supplier of elevator of B787 aircraft.
These contracts also enabled TAI to add another leading aerospace company –Alenia -- among its business partners.
