Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) National Team (comprised of Lockheed Martin Corp., Sunnyvale, Calif.; TRW Inc., Redondo Beach, Calif.; and Boeing Satellites and Space, El Segundo, Calif.) is being awarded a $135,500,000 (estimated) firm-fixed-price contract modification.
This modification provides for an additional preliminary design effort and extends the system definition phase of the AEHF Satellite Communications System Program through the end of December 2001.
The AEHF system provides secure, survivable communication to warfighters during all levels of conflict and is the protected backbone of the Department of Defense's military satellite communication architecture. At this time, $25,000,000 of the funds has been obligated.
The AEHF National Team will perform this effort at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space, Sunnyvale, Calif. (40%); TRW, Redondo Beach, Calif. (40%); and Boeing Satellites and Space, El Sugundo, Calif. (20%).
The Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles, Calif., is the contracting activity.
