AMS Wins Malaysian Radar Contracts (Oct. 10)



Alenia Marconi Systems, Land Systems Division has been awarded a contract by the Government of Malaysia for an Air Surveillance System, valued in the region of 60 Million Euros. The system will comprise of a RAT 31 DL Radar, a Sector Operation Center (SOC) and associated Logistic Support.

The 3D Radar and the SOC systems are the key elements for the security of the Air Space Defense Management. The RAT 31 DL is a solid state, long range 3D radar operating at L Band (NATO D Band). It is the most advanced radar of its type available today and represents AMS' unrivalled experience in the design and manufacture of operationally effective, high reliability long range radar. The operational and tactical control will be performed through the commissioning of a new Data Processing and Display System at the SOC in Butterworth, to obtain in real time an accurate Air Situation, integrated with other command and control functions, by means of data fusion from the new and existing RMAF radar systems.
