Agusta SpA, an AgustaWestland Company, delivered the first A109 Power Harbour Pilot Shuttle to the Chinese Company Deer Jet, a branch of Hainan Airlines.
Deer Jet's acquisition of two A109 Powers for the HPS role will allow a dramatic time-savings in the ferrying of marine harbour pilots to ships in Shanghai harbour, one of the busiest harbours in the world.
Deer Jet's A109 Powers are fitted out for single-pilot IFR, rescue winch, cargo hook, emergency floats and searchlight. With this configuration, the A109 Powers HPS are fully equipped to perform not only the harbour pilot shuttle mission, but also search and rescue missions and general support to international shipping.
Deer Jet follows South African's Balmoral and an American Customer that are already operating A109s on marine pilot service operations. Since its market launch in 1997, a total of more than 220 A109 Powers have been sold to more than 90 Customers worldwide.
