Agusta to Feature Danish EH101, A109LUH at Farnborough

AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, will be one of the largest exhibitors at this year’s Farnborough International Air Show being held from 17th to 23rd July. AgustaWestland will have seven helicopters from its product range along with a major display of its training and support capabilities on show within the Finmeccanica display at location OE2.

Largest Range of Helicopters

From its military range of helicopters AgustaWestland will have on display a Royal Danish Air Force EH101 Merlin Joint Supporter configured for troop transport, medical transport and SAR operations and for the first time at Farnborough, the multi-role A109LUH. Additionally the first Super Lynx 300 for the South African Air Force will also be on static display and the latest version of the A129 multi-role attack helicopter. A full size EH101 Combat SAR cabin mock-up will also be on display highlighting this aircraft’s suitability for this demanding role.

Commercial helicopters on display will include the single-engine 8-place A119 Koala in corporate/VIP configuration, the best selling medium twin engine helicopter, the AW139, in offshore transport configuration and the new Grand helicopter in EMS configuration. It was last Farnborough in 2004 that AgustaWestland unveiled for the first time a mock up of the Grand and this year visitors will be able to see the real aircraft which has already achieved over 80 sales since its launch two years ago.

Training Capabilities

Highlighting the company’s capabilities in Live Collective Training, will be the first showing of a helicopter door mounted machine gun firing simulation. This simulation will link to the AgustaWestland Mission Support Demonstrator (MSD), a skeletal helicopter cockpit that enables Training and Command and Battlespace Management to be integrated into a single demonstrator. The MSD is provided with Apache or Lynx mission data from the Mission Support System, and together show the company's expertise in Network Enabled Connectivity. In addition, the Exercise control 'EXCON' used in the Helicopter Collective Training System 'HCTS' will show how valuable training through simulation can be for advanced combined arms training of both aviation and ground forces.

The latest e-learning and simulation technology developed by AgustaWestland and its partners for the Bowman digital network-enabled land battlespace secure communications system will also be demonstrated at Farnborough 2006.

Integrated Customer Services

Two of AgustaWestland’s Integrated Operational Support products will be demonstrated at Farnborough 2006. The Enhanced Health & Usage Diagnostic System (EHUDS) is a deployable computer software application intended for use by aircraft operators and maintainers. The system provides tracking, management and recording of location and configuration of assets, together with the planning, packaging and recording of maintenance activities.

EHUDS is supported by the second product - Compound Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (C-IETP). This is a publications browser application that can be used either in standalone mode or linked directly to EHUDS, to provide the relevant technical publication data for the work procedure in hand. In combination, EHUDS and C-IETP provide aircraft operators with an intelligent fleet and maintenance management system.
