Around 200 subcontractors from all over the Czech Republic are taking part in the L 159 project headed by Aero Vodochody. The largest number of companies (58) is based in Prague. 26 companies are from Northern Moravia, 14 companies from Northern Bohemia, and 10 companies from Southern and Western Bohemia. 28 companies are based in Central Bohemia, Eastern Bohemia and Southern Moravia.
History of many of these companies goes back to the beginning of the last century and some of them were established as early as the 19th century, for example the Libøice Screw Factory (1872).
The economic benefits for companies and their regions are evident. Participation of some of these companies in the phase of development covered a significant part of their production (Lerta Èeské Budìjovice - 60 percent, Praga Engineering, CR Praga Hostivaø - 50 percent, First Brno Engineering Works Velká Bíte_ 50 percent). For Jihlavan Jihlava, the L 159 project means 40 percent of the company's volume of production and 50 percent of its revenues.
Participation of various companies in the project also helps to create employment opportunities in all regions (First Brno Engineering Works Velká Bíte_ - 246 employees, Technometra Radotín - 235 employees, Mikrotechna Prague - 116 employees, Jihlavan Jihlava - 90 employees).
According to the results of a recent survey, participating companies also benefit by increasing their prestige on domestic as well as international markets, and by implementing the know-how and experience gained during development and production in other, often civilian programs.
Aviation industry production certificates also provide the companies with a symbol of quality and enable them to implement quality assurance programs, which is reflected in an inflow of new orders and also by new partners.
Cooperation within the L 159 program is also a step on the way to a potential participation in offset programs.
