VERSAILLES---After winning a first label in March for the 155mm LU 211 high explosive artillery shell, Giat Industries has now been honoured again for its Brenus Model F1 reactive armour module. On 26 July, this product obtained the insensitive munitions (MURAT) label from the French DGA national armaments directorate. Brenus modules equip the AMX 30B2 tanks in two regiments of the French Army. They are designed to protect the tank against the jet shaped charge impacts of in-service anti-tank missiles and rockets. The label recognises that the Brenus module provides remarkable insensitivity to accidental environments of the battlefields such as drops, fires, bullet impacts.There is no mass detonation when one reactive module is hit. These MURAT labels underline the capability of Giat Industries to offer products of very high safety in the fields of both munitions and vehicle protection.
