Dundridge College, Alenia Marconi Systems' training college, now offers Battle Management Training for the 21st century. Courses utilizing the Dundridge College Battle Management Training Capability have been specially designed to cater for officers in executive roles.
This new capability enables students to role-play in a number of carefully selected scenarios designed to develop their skills in battle management. Any part of the world, real or imaginary, can be used to emphasize the finer points of battle management while seeking to develop the highest levels of tactical awareness. The latest tactics and doctrine are employed, based on in depth analysis of ongoing worldwide crises and conflicts.
Battle management training solutions can be tailored to suit the level and experience of the client nation student. Highly qualified instructors conduct each course, placing great emphasis on battle team management, allocation of resources, combat airspace management and weapons integration.
Training is conducted in two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical training is complex and requires the student to have a broad and deep understanding of detail. The practical element utilizes the Battle Management Training Facility to reinforce some of the more complex theoretical aspects.
The Battle Management Training Facility consists of a tactical floor on which various scenarios imagined or real are laid out. Moveable pieces representing units, aircraft, ships or other facilities are then placed, and lines representing international boundaries, military zones, air routes or sea-lanes can be added. Incorporated into the Battle Management Training Facility is the Elusion Electronic Warfare training system, which enables the students to plan asset placement and assess weapon capabilities by virtue of its extensive database. During an exercise, which can last up to five days, the students role-play taking parts such as the Joint Force Air Component Commander/Joint Force Naval Component Commander or individual unit commanders. They are required to make decisions on matters regarding Rules of Engagement, force dispositions and react to scenario developments as directed by the instructors.
In an age of scarce resources commanders and their staffs must make optimum use of the forces available to them if they are to succeed. To achieve that they must understand the capabilities of these forces and how the forces interact and it is the aim of Dundridge College battle management training to develop that understanding.
