Atlantic Research Corporation Selected for Minuteman III Propulsion System Rocket Engine

GAINESVILLE, Va.---Atlantic Research Corporation (ARC) was selected by TRW Inc. through a Best Value competition to perform the Minuteman III Propulsion System Rocket Engine (PSRE) Life Extension Program and Sustaining Engineering Program.
ARC will design and produce refurbishment kits and provide engineering support to restore the PSRE to extend the service life to 2020. ARC designed and manufactured the PSRE system in the '60s and '70s and has provided continuous engineering support at Hill Air Force Base (AFB), Utah, since 1979.
TRW became the ICBM Prime Integrating Contractor for Minuteman III and the anticipated Peacekeeper missile systems in 1997, and assumed responsibility at that time for sustainment of these land-based systems. This award will extend ARC's presence at Hill AFB as part of TRW's team to support Minuteman III.
ARC also produces the Trident D-5 Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missile Post Boost Control System Gas Generator at their Orange County Strategic Facility in Virginia.
ARC's program organization will be co-located with TRW in Utah, supported by a separate Utah production facility, and engineering support from Gainesville and Orange, Virginia, and the Liquid Propulsion Division in Niagara Falls, New York.
ARC, a unit of Sequa Corporation, is a leading developer and producer of solid propellant rocket motors, gas generators, advanced composite materials and liquid propulsion systems, including the liquid propellant rocket motor line acquired from Royal Ordnance late 1998.
