Litton Awarded $78 Million U.S. Navy Training Range Complex Contract

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif.---PRC Inc., a subsidiary of Litton Industries, Tuesday announced that it was awarded the U.S. Navy's East Coast Tactical Training Range Complex contract -- a cost plus award fee contract with options with an estimated total value of $78 million over a five-year period.
Under the contract, Litton PRC will provide aircrew training system operations and maintenance, administration, logistics and engineering services at Tactical Aircrew Combat Training Systems (TACTS) Ranges. The ranges include Langley Air Force Base, Naval Air Station Oceana, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, Savannah Air National Guard and Naval Air Station Key West. Also included are the Mid Atlantic Electronic Warfare Range (MAEWR), the Large Area Tracking Range (LATR) and the Pinecastle Bombing Range.
Aircrews complete complex training exercises at the facilities where aircraft sensors, ground threat simulators and monitoring systems are used to create aerial combat, strike warfare and electronic combat scenarios. Litton PRC electronically captures data from the test scenarios for Navy, Air Force and Air National Guard trainers to review with the aircrews after training exercises.
Training scenarios range from unit level training through top-level Fleet Exercises. Litton PRC supported the tactical training ranges under previous contracts such as the Air Force ACMI contract, and the predecessor East Coast TACTS contract, both of which were awarded in 1985.
"The new contract increases the level of effort and facilitates our partnership with the warfighter tactical training community,'' said Len Pomata, Litton vice president and president of PRC. "Training exercises conducted at these facilities have a direct impact on Navy, Marine, Air Force and Air National Guard air readiness, and we take particular pride that the Navy's best value determination rested in part on Litton PRC's structured engineering and quality assurance programs. We will continue to identify and implement innovative solutions to meet the challenges of this critical mission.''
The East Coast Tactical Training Range Complex Contract is one of several range support and operations contracts that Litton PRC has won over the last two decades. These contracts include the Air Force Ground Based Electro-optical Space Surveillance Systems contract, which Litton PRC has held since 1985. On this contract, Litton PRC operates the tracking telescopes for the space object identification program at Diego Garcia, Maui, and Socorro, N.M. Recent awards include the NASA Sounding Rocket program, worth $300 million, and the U.S. Army's Yuma Proving Ground contract.
Litton PRC, a leading provider of scientific, engineering, information technology-based solutions for public sector clients, is one of the divisions that comprise Litton's Information Systems Group (ISG). Litton ISG, with headquarters in Woodland Hills, employs more than 9,000 in 150 offices nationwide, and is ranked as one of the federal government's top 10 contractors.
Litton is a leader in worldwide technology markets for information, advanced electronic and defense systems; and designs, builds and modernizes surface ships for military and commercial customers.
