Primex Awarded $16.7 Million Ammunition Contract; Value Could Reach $62.5 Million Over Three Years
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. --- Primex Technologies, Inc. announced today that the U.S Army ARDEC/TACOM Command at Picatinny Arsenal, N.J., has awarded the company a sole source ammunition contract for the supply of 25mm M919 Armor-Piercing, Fin Stabilized, Discarding Sabot-Tracer (APFSDS-T) cartridges. The contract provides for a base award of approximately 160,000 rounds of ammunition valued at $16.7 million with follow-on options of approximately 253,000 and 209,000 rounds in 2000 and 2001, respectively. Total value is approximately $62.5 million with the award of both options. The M919, which is fired from the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, is the only U.S. produced medium caliber long rod armor piercing round of ammunition. This contract will be managed out of Primex Technologies' Marion, Ill., facility. Manufacture of projectiles will be conducted at the Downey, Calif., facility.
