Antonov Launches AN-148 Production for Russia

On July 4, on the basis of Voronezh Joint Stock Aircraft Building Company enterprises the partners on the programme of AN-148 regional passenger aircraft of a new generation held a conference. The event was devoted to the start of production of four AN-148s in Voronezh.

The date of final assembly of these airplanes is planned on 2008 and the further production will go on during 2009-2011.

Voronezh Joint Stock Aircraft Building Company is one of the most progressive enterprises of Russian Federation having advanced equipment, skilled personnel and financing. According to existing plans, in 2009 Voronezh Joint Stock Aircraft Building Company will produce 12 AN-148s; in 2010 18; in 2011 26 and, starting from 2012, 36 machines annually.

During the conference organization of cooperation between Russian and Ukrainian enterprises on serial production of the AN-148 was discussed.

34 Ukrainian enterprises take part in AN-148 programme. Antonov ASTC interacts with other Ukrainian enterprises and Voronezh Joint Stock Aircraft Building Company basing on the set of contracts including license contract on use of intellectual property.

Cooperation of Ukraine and Russian Federation in production of AN-148 at Voronezh Joint Stock Aircraft Building Company guarantees:

- entering to the Russian market the production of Ukrainian enterprises integrated into AN-148 airplane;

- strengthening of Antonov brand at the Russian market;

- increase of volume of sale of AN-148 airplanes at the Russian market due to decrease of operational expenses of Russian Federation airlines while financing credit and lease rate (financing guarantees reduction by a third the sizes of credit and lease rates);

- big probability of a development of the new modifications of AN-148 aircraft according to the requirements of Russian customers that allows to increase load of ASTC and other Ukrainian enterprises;

- forming long-term economic relations with the enterprises of Russian Federation on manufacturing and maintenance of air worthiness of aviation technique developed by Antonov ASTC;

- long-term receipts including those into budget;

- long-term employment of considerable groups of population.

With that the most high-tech and science extensive stages of life cycle of the aviation technique such as research and development works remain in Ukraine providing it with innovative way of development that corresponds to scientific and technical policy of Ukraine.

Russian Federation needs 200-250 airplanes of AN-148 type till 2020.

Plan of production of civil airplanes of Joint Aviation building Corporation for 2008-2012, approved by the decision of Russian Federation Government dated 28th of March 2007, foresees sales of 96 AN-148 airplanes assembled in Voronezh.

With that the incomes of Ukrainian enterprises will be approximately 1 billion USD; payments into state and local budgets of Ukraine as taxes and fees will be more than 293 million USD and 11,000 new working places will be created at the Ukrainian enterprises.
