TORONTO --- Atlantis Systems Corp. announces that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Atlantis Systems International, Inc., has been awarded a 14-month contract by the Boeing E-6B program of Kent, Washington to upgrade the Integrated Avionics Trainer ("IAT") for the U.S. Navy's E-6B TACAMO aircraft. The contract, valued at CDN$6.7 million, covers the development and delivery of an upgraded maintenance trainer for the aircraft's avionics systems.
"We are proud to have been selected by Boeing to provide these high-tech maintenance trainers for the U.S. Navy," said John Wright, Atlantis' Chief Operating Officer. "This new contract comes fresh on the heels of a CDN$32 million award by Boeing to build F/A-18 maintenance trainers for Canada and Australia, and builds on Atlantis' long-standing relationship with Boeing and the U.S. armed forces. In addition to several earlier upgrades to the E-6 IAT, Atlantis has previously delivered five suites of simulation-based trainers to support maintenance training on the E-6 aircraft's major subsystems." The award of the IAT upgrade contract was facilitated by the administrative and business services of the Canadian Commercial Corporation, a Canadian government Crown Corporation.
The E-6B TACAMO is a Boeing 707 configured with an extensive suite of secure communications equipment. These aircraft provide airborne coverage to maintain communications connectivity between U.S. National Command Authority and Strategic Forces. The IAT is a high-fidelity simulation-based trainer used to instruct U.S. Navy personnel in maintaining and operating the E-6 aircraft. The IAT upgrade is part of the Navy's overall E-6 modernization program.
Atlantis is a globally recognized developer of simulation-based aircraft and naval training systems, and a leading supplier of high-tech systems for vessel traffic management. The Atlantis client base spans defense forces and government agencies throughout the world, as well as major commercial airlines and aircrew training centers. Atlantis trades on The Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol AIQ.
