Curstiss-Wright Awarded Boeing Contract For Unmanned Aerial Combat Vehicle
LYNDHURST, N.J.--- Curtiss-Wright Corporation has been awarded a contract to supply concept demonstrator hardware to Boeing Phantom Works for the advanced Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle (UCAV) program.
Curtiss-Wright Flight Systems (CWFS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Curtiss-Wright, will supply a Weapons Bay Door Drive system utilizing its proven rotary actuation technology combined with an electrically driven and controlled power drive unit for two Concept Demonstrator aircraft.
According to George Yohrling, President of CWFS, "This Boeing contract leverages our core competencies in mechanical drive systems and demonstrates our controls capability. While this is a small contract in dollar terms, it represents our first Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle opportunity and strengthens our longstanding relationship with the Boeing Phantom Works. This is an opportunity to further expand the application of our utility actuation products and capabilities and positions us for further growth in an emerging market.''
