Northrop Grumman Forms Team To Provide Support For F-5, T-38

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. --- Northrop Grumman Corporation's Integrated Systems and Aerostructures (ISA) sector has signed licensing agreements with four more suppliers that will provide parts, assemblies and repair kits for the F-5 fighter and T-38 training aircraft, giving worldwide users an affordable "one-stop" total parts source.

Commerce Overseas Corporation, Hawthorne, N.Y., will supply special-design and standard parts; Derco Aerospace Inc., Milwaukee, Wis., will manufacture F-5 parts and assemblies from Northrop Grumman designs; Wyvern Technologies Inc., Santa Ana, Calif., will manufacture F-5 electronic parts and assemblies, and Kitco Inc., Springville, Utah, will provide repair kits.

Northrop Grumman's F-5/T-38 Program Office here also continues to work with Bristol Aerospace Ltd., Canada; Samsung Aerospace Industries Ltd., Korea, and CASA, Spain, to provide key (long lead) parts and customer service under previous licensing agreements.

As the original equipment manufacturer of the F-5 and T-38, Northrop Grumman will continue to provide primary structural aircraft components, such as airworthiness parts produced under a U.S. Air Force structural upgrade contract, and special parts for the reconnaissance F-5E. It will also continue to provide total weapon system integration (avionics, aircraft systems and structure), spare parts support services and technical assistance for the worldwide F-5/T-38 fleet.

Northrop Grumman licensees now have access to F-5/T-38 structural drawings, specifications, processes, vendors and engineering support to ensure that all parts are manufactured in accordance with the company's quality standards.

The F-5 first flew in 1963, and more than 2,600 were built before the last aircraft was delivered in 1989. Today, 26 nations operate nearly 1,600 F-5 aircraft as fighters or trainers. More than 800 T-38 aircraft are currently operational worldwide.

Northrop Grumman's F-5 Program and its supplier team are working with the Air Force's Technical Coordination Group (TCG) as the TCG transfers operations from Kelly AFB, Tex., to Hill AFB, Ogden, Utah.

Northrop Grumman's Integrated Systems and Aerostructures Sector, headquartered in Dallas, Tex., is a premier aerospace systems integration enterprise. ISA has the capabilities to design, develop, integrate, produce and support complete systems, as well as airframe subsystems, for airborne surveillance and battle management aircraft, early warning aircraft, airborne electronic warfare aircraft, air combat aircraft, and commercial aerostructures.
