BEAS To Service Q/Dash Turboprops (Mar. 25)

TORONTO ---Bombardier Aerospace has appointed British European Aviation Services (BEAS) as the first Bombardier recognized Q Series/Dash 8-maintenance facility in Europe.

Under the Recognized Service Facility (RSF) agreement, BEAS is authorized to perform "C" checks and other heavy maintenance on the Bombardier Dash 8-100, 200 and 300, and Bombardier Q200, Q300 and Q400 aircraft. BEAS is also authorized to perform other services such as aircraft modifications and upgrades on Bombardier's behalf. There are 165 Bombardier Q Series/Dash 8 aircraft in service or on firm order in Europe.

"With this agreement, we have responded to requests from our European Bombardier Q Series and Dash 8 operators who wanted such a facility in Europe," said Troy Jonas, general manager, aircraft service centers, Bombardier Regional Aircraft. "BEAS has a solid reputation for quality workmanship among the many airlines for which it performs third-party maintenance."

"We are delighted to have won this endorsement from Bombardier Aerospace, the world's leading regional and business aircraft manufacturer, to provide third party work on the Q Series/Dash 8 family," said British European Aviation Services Commercial Director, Andrew Strong.

"At British European Aviation Services we aim to offer flexible maintenance solutions that will help airlines keep their costs down and we look forward to working with Bombardier's European customers to this end."

BEAS and its sister company, the airline British European, are based at Exeter International Airport in southwest England. British European currently operates two Bombardier Q400 high-speed turboprops, with two more to be delivered in May and June this year. With the addition of these Bombardier Q400s, British European will have a 14 aircraft strong fleet of Q200, Q300 and Q400 turboprop aircraft by summer, in addition to four Bombardier CRJ200 regional jets.

BEAS recently signed an exclusive agreement with SAS Commuter to perform "C" checks on the airline's 28 Bombardier Q400 aircraft. The first aircraft is due to arrive for work at Exeter later this year. BEAS, part of the Walker Aviation Group, has its facilities at Exeter and Birmingham Airport, UK.

In North America, Bombardier provides regional aircraft heavy maintenance support at West Virginia Air Center in Bridgeport, West Virginia, and two line maintenance facilities at Asheville, North Carolina and Manchester, New Hampshire.
