AgustaWestland at Farnborough International Air Show

AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is one of the largest exhibitors at this year’s Farnborough International Air Show and will be showcasing its range of advanced technology helicopters as well as its latest training and support capabilities.

Advanced Technology Helicopters for Commercial and Military Missions

AgustaWestland has the widest range of helicopters of any manufacture, ranging from the 2.8 ton single engine AW119 Ke to the 15.6 ton AW101. At the Air Show AgustaWestland will be showcasing military and commercial models from its range which includes the AW139, the market leader in the medium twin helicopter market, the Grand twin engine helicopter – the leading VIP helicopter in its class, and for the first time at Farnborough the uprated AW119 Ke.

The AW119 Ke is the new uprated variant of the A119 Koala and offers unmatched performance and capability in the single-engine helicopter market. The AW119 Ke can carry up to seven passengers while cruising at 139 knots – 20 knots more than most other single engine helicopters.

The AW109 Power continues to be a best seller in the light twin market where it has dominated the corporate transport market and is increasingly becoming the standard helicopter for law enforcement and air ambulance duties in many countries. The military version know as the AW109 LUH features an advanced fully integrated cockpit and can be equipped to perform a wide range of land and maritime roles, as well as being an ideal lead in trainer for larger advanced helicopter types.

The Grand which was introduced to the market at Farnborough Air Show in 2004 is now the market leader in the corporate helicopter market and in just four years has achieved over 230 sales. A spacious six-place cabin and unmatched performance and comfort with light-twin economics, the Grand has been a phenomenal success.

Now the best selling helicopter in the medium twin market, the AW139 has achieved sales of over 350 aircraft and has become the reference helicopter for offshore transport, SAR and VIP transport. Able to transport up to 15 passengers in comfort at high speed, the AW139 is the only new generation helicopter in the medium twin class.

AgustaWestland is developing a new 7-8 ton multi-role military helicopter called the AW149. Design work is progressing as planned. The aircraft will offer exceptional performance at a competitive price and fits into the AgustaWestland product range between the 6 ton AW139 and the 11 ton NH90.

Future Lynx is a new multi-role military helicopter from the Lynx family of helicopters designed to meet the requirements of the UK’s Royal Navy and Army Surface Combatant Maritime Rotorcraft (SCMR) and Battlefield Reconnaissance Helicopter (BRH) requirements. Following the contract signature for 70 aircraft in June 2006 all milestones have been met on time and on budget with first flight planned for late-2009. Deliveries will commence in 2011.

The AW101 is the worlds leading medium lift helicopter and is now in service with customers worldwide. The 15.6 ton aircraft can fly up to 750 nm on standard fuel tanks and is ideally suited for long range SAR, utility and naval applications. The large cabin also makes it ideally suited for VIP transport. In 2005 a version of the AW101, now designated the VH-71, was selected as the winner of the US Presidential Helicopter Replacement Program.
